What is the Corpuscle Shuffle 5K
The ImpactLife Corpuscle Shuffle 5K Run & Walk is a highlight of the fall season for ImpactLife staff members, blood donors, volunteers, and supporters. Participants gather on an October Saturday to start their day with a 5-kilometer or 1-mile jaunt through the hills on city streets near our headquarters. Following the race, everyone regroups at the nearby Five Cities Brewery for our awards ceremony and post-race party. Five Cities opens early for our event, offering a complimentary breakfast for participants and the opportunity to regroup and enjoy time with friends before going on with the day's activities.
With the support of our sponsors and race registrations, the Corpuscle Shuffle annually raises more than $20,000 towards the blood center's LifeSavings Grant program, a key element of our outreach to the next generation of blood donors. Kindergarten through 12th grade institutions that host blood drives with ImpactLife receive a grant of $250, plus $1 for each registered blood donor. Schools can use these to purchase books, equipment, and technology; for scholarships; or to donate to another nonprofit or cause.
The 5k course will feature mile markers and will be patrolled at key intersections by Bettendorf Police Department and race volunteers. It is a chip timed event.
