The Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run and Walk is back for 2026 and it’s wilder than ever! Join us on Saturday, September 26th for a family-friendly race that supports a fantastic cause. This year, all funds raised will go toward creating a fully accessible playground at the zoo, so every child can enjoy the fun.
Choose your pace and your distance - 1km or 5km, walk or run - and don’t forget to wear your best animal costume! Whether you come as a lion, lemur, or lovebird, there are prizes for best costumes and plenty of smiles along the way.
With only 500 spots available, make sure to register early and help us make this year’s event a roaring success!

COURSE DESCRIPTION & RACE DAY SUMMARY
Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run & Walk – Race Day Summary - Saturday, Sept. 26th
The race starts and finishes at Riverview Park & Zoo in Peterborough, following an out-and-back course that’s safe and fully contained within zoo property - perfect for runners and walkers of all ages!
Both the 1K and 5K races will be chip timed, so you can track your pace while enjoying the scenic, animal-filled surroundings.
With both 1K and 5K options, race pickup begins at 7:00 AM at the Rotary Education Centre. The 1K race kicks off at 8:15 AM, followed by the 5K at 9:00 AM.
Every participant will receive a medal, with additional awards for top finishers in both distances. Plus, the top three fundraisers will win special prizes!
Animal-themed costumes are strongly encouraged, with fun prizes for the best-dressed participants - so come as your favourite feathered, furry, or scaly friend!

REFRESHMENTS
Light snacks of apples and granola bars will be provided post-race. Water wagon will be on site to refill your re-usable water bottle. Coffee will also be provided.
WASHROOMS & PARKING
Both washrooms and parking are available on site but limited. Please note that it will be a busy day at the Riverview Park & Zoo - please carpool, take the bus, walk or ride your bike if you can.
