The Big Hill Trail Run is an annual event held at the Big Hill Trailhead near Spearfish, South Dakota. The 2025 race is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, with both 5K and 8-mile courses starting at 9:00 a.m.

Location and Directions:

The trailhead is located south of Spearfish. To reach it:

1. Take Exit 12 off Interstate 90 and proceed south on Jackson Street for approximately 1.5 miles through Spearfish.
2. Turn left onto Harvard Street and drive about 0.25 miles.
3. Turn right onto Hill Street, which becomes Tinton Road (Forest Service Road 134).
4. Continue for 8 miles; the trailhead will be on your right.

Registration Fees:

• 5K - $25 (BHRC Members: Use your ID for a discount)
• 5K - Under 16 - Free entry (no event swag included)
• 8Miler - $25 (BHRC Members: Use your ID for a discount)
• 8 Miler - 16 and Under - Free entry (no event swag included)
• Registration closes at 4 p.m. on May 16, 2026

Please note that parking is limited at the trailhead; carpooling is encouraged.
