Step up, shoulder the weight, and move with purpose.
The MacAulay Memorial Ruck is more than a walk—it’s a meaningful way to honour those who have served while directly supporting veterans and their families in our community. Participants will carry a loaded backpack (“ruck”) along a scenic route, symbolizing the strength, resilience, and sacrifice of military service.
WHAT IS A RUCK?
A ruck is a weighted pack carried over distance—used by soldiers to remain self-sufficient and mission-ready in any environment. In this event, your ruck becomes a powerful act of giving back
HOW IT WORKS:
1) Bring your own backpack or rucksack
2) Fill it with non-perishable food items (your chosen weight)
3) Complete the route and donate your food at the finish line
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A supportive, community-driven atmosphere
A mix of pavement and gravel terrain—be ready for changing conditions
Free lunch for participants (donations welcome for supporters)
Warming and dry areas available if needed
A finish-line moment to drop your food donation and capture a great photo
Dress appropriately for the weather
Rooted in remembrance, service, and community—this is your chance to carry the weight with purpose and make every step count.
