Our story…

On September 23, 2024 we lost our daughter Makayla Poppy at 33 weeks. She was born stillborn on September 25, 2024. She had the cutest button nose and the biggest stompers. We held her for the first and last time that day; and though our time with her was brief, we will carry her with us forever. We are so thankful to our midwives, nurses, doctor's, and healthcare team for helping us in our darkest hour. We cherish the bereavement box given to us from The Butterfly Support Network. These precious boxes are so meaningful to families who have experienced loss. Our Makayla Poppy box is a treasured memory box that was full of information, love, and support. Now it is also full of her memories and treasured items. It is this appreciation that inspires us to help support other families who have experienced the dull sting of infertility and the sharp sorrow of pregnancy and infant loss. Our sweet girl inspires to provide support and advocacy for families.

We chanel our grief into advocacy for our bereaved community. Since losing our sweet angel we have had two interviews with CBC, two meeting with BC Childrens Hospital/BC Women's Hospital, got as many signatures as possible for The Butterfly Support Network's petition, and watched MLA Jennifer Blatherwick submit that petition at the BC Legislative Assembly. Our goal is to continue to advocate for change. We hope to raise funds to continue the amazing work The Butterfly Support Network does each day.
