Get ready for Burnaby’s annual Monster Dash 5K on October 31st, a fun-filled Halloween race where costumes, community spirit, and festive energy take centre stage.
Whether you are a seasoned runner or just in it for the fun, this event is the perfect way to celebrate the season. Dress up, hit the course, and enjoy a memorable Halloween experience with family and friends.
Bringing the kids? The Mini Monster Dash 400m is made just for children aged 10 and under. Held on the track at Swangard Stadium, it is a safe, exciting, and playful way for little goblins, superheroes, ghosts, and monsters to join the fun.

The Mini Monster Dash is a 400 Metre Dash around the Swangard Stadium Track. Come dressed as your favourite superhero, ghost or cartoon character. The Mini Monster Dash is fun for kids up to 10 years old!

AGE ELIGIBILITY & RACE GUIDELINES
For the Monster Dash 5K, the minimum age to participate is 11 years old. All children taking part in the 5K must have the physical, mental, and emotional ability to complete the course safely and follow race instructions and course etiquette at all times. Participants aged 11 to 13 must be accompanied on the course by a registered adult. Participants aged 14 to 17 may take part without an adult accompanying them, but must follow all race rules and regulations. A parent or legal guardian must sign the event waiver for all participants under the age of 18.
The Mini Monster Dash 400m is intended only for children aged 10 and under. This race is designed as a fun, safe, and age-appropriate experience for younger participants. Children older than 10 are not eligible to register for the Mini Monster Dash and must register for the 5K if they meet the minimum age requirement.
Families are encouraged to stay after the Mini Monster Dash to cheer on the 5K participants. The 5K begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Spectators can enjoy complimentary access to vendors, and the kids’ fun zone, and food and drinks will be available for participants.
Terrain Information: The terrain includes paved pathways, grass, and loose gravel. It has areas with slight inclines, declines, and may have uneven surfaces.
Pet Disclaimer: We love our furry friends, but please note that pets are not permitted inside the Stadium, where the start, finish, and post-race activities take place. They are welcome to cheer along the Central Park route on a leash with their owners.
Please note that there are no refunds for entry payments or transfers.
Media Release & Consent Notice: By attending this event, you acknowledge and agree that you may be photographed or recorded. These photos and videos may be used for promotional, marketing, or social media purposes by the event organizers.
All participants must collect their race kits during the designated Package Pickup hours.

To retrieve your race bib, please ensure you have the following:
- Emailed confirmation number
- Valid photo identification
If you are picking up a race package on behalf of another runner, please have the following ready:
- Full name of the registered runner
- Their confirmation number
- A copy of their valid photo ID
- 8:10 AM: Event Day Package pickup opens
- 8:10 AM: Kids’ mini face painting booth opens before and after the race
- 8:10-8:35 AM: Bib checks
- 8:35 AM: Package pickup and bib check close
- 8:43 AM: Welcome announcement and kids line up for race
- 8:44 AM: Sponsors' picture with the kid runners at the start line, along with the race start countdown
- 8:45 AM: Mini Monster Dash 400 mt run flag off
- 8:50 AM: Beverage coupon and post-run snacks distribution to kids
- 8:55-8:58 AM: Warm-up for all 5K runners
- 8:59 AM: Prep for race start countdown with pictures at the start line
- 9:00 AM: Monster Dash 5K event flag-off
- 9:05 AM: Kids’ prize Distribution for Best Costume and 1st, 2nd and 3rd
- 10:15 AM: Finish Line Closes
- 10:20 AM: Prize distribution for First Registrant, Best Costume, Male and Female (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
