Help Gina raise money

Cancer has touched my life through friends and family over the years, just recently it has shown up again for someone I care about deeply.

I was fortunate enough to meet two lovely people who I helped purchase their home a few years ago in the El Dorado Hills area. In a short time with much love and care the dream home this young couple had imagined came to be. They were ready to start a family and build their future.

Shortly after that time I received a tearful call from her husband telling me she was diagnosed with cancer; their future now uncertain as they faced a diagnosis no young couple should ever have to imagine.

Mucosal melanoma is an extremely rare cancer, accounting for only 1–3% of melanomas and can be very aggressive. Over time she endured surgeries and treatment. When I visited her just a few weeks ago, she shared that the future was looking better as she appeared to be cancer free.  However, as I write this, she has shared with me that the cancer is spreading and that she will soon begin a new treatment plan. Most likely participating in a trial.

Hearing this was a sobering reminder that behind every diagnosis is a person—with dreams, plans, hopes, and people who love them. It’s one of the reasons supporting organizations like Cancer Champions is so important. They support members & their care teams with personalized wellness programs based on individual needs & goals through fitness, nutrition and mindset, uplifting & empowering the cancer community – because no one should have to face cancer alone.
