You know the story. There was a man walking the beach at low tide. He was surrounded by hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand. One by one as he walked, he would pick up a starfish and throw it back into the surf, not even making a dent in the number of stranded starfish. Someone came up to him and said, “Why are you bothering? You can’t possibly make any difference here. There are too many.” The man picked up a starfish and threw it into the ocean. “I just made a difference to that one.” We can’t eliminate the suffering or the need out there.
