My Story…
My sweet girl, Buffy, came to me as a foster through The Bond Between. She was terrified and so thin. At the time I thought, what if I can't save her? What if she stays shut down? What if I can't get her to eat? For days, I sat with her and hand fed her food. Even when it was gobs of wet food. I sat next to her quietly as she decompressed. And slowly, she started to trust me and the environment around her. She started gaining weight and eating without having to be handfed. It was small victory after small victory. Then she started greeting me at the door, she started playing, and showing me she could be brave. Wide-eyed, terrified, and most importantly brave. Fostering saves lives like Buffy's. She needed a place to heal, a safe place to explore the world around her. And I am so grateful to the Bond Between for taking on a scared skinny skittish dog so she could find her forever home with me. It wasn't my intention to keep her, but I am forever grateful that I did.
