STRATFORD'S DIRTIEST DAY AT THE BEACH!

The Sterling Down & Dirty 5K is a one of a kind obstacle based Fun Run!


Perfect for all fitness levels, this annual family-friendly course is an exciting challenge for all runners - experts and beginners alike! Race your way through our 18+ obstacles or just have fun with it. There is a little bit of FUN and a whole lot of DIRTY for everyone.


Best of all you are in it to win it for Sterling Community Center.
Proceeds will benefit Sterling Food Pantry, Youth Development & Youth Programs.

REGISTER A GROUP OF 4 OR MORE PARTICIPANTS AND RECEIVE $5 OFF/PP*

Early Bird Rate: May 24 - August 14, 2026

ADULT: Ages 21 and up - $50
YOUTH: Ages 8-20 yrs old - $35

Regular Rate: August 15 - September 11, 2026

ADULT: Ages 21 and up - $60
YOUTH: Ages 8-20 yrs old - $45

Day of/walk-ins will be accommodated, however we strongly encourage you to register ahead of time to ensure you can join requested wave time.

*You must register all participant names in one order by clicking 'Add Another Registrant' for each person. All 4 names must be entered prior to checking out. This ticket includes your run, race shirt and finisher's medals.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a fundraiser to support our programs and services. Refunds will only be issued if we have to cancel.
  • Children will participate on the full 5K course. There is NO kids run.
  • Ages 8 and up. All children must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable to complete the course with proper course etiquette. Kids aged 8 to 11 years must run with a Registered Adult. Parents must use proper judgment and help the youngsters decide on what obstacles to do or not based on their ability, size and confidence level. Kids 12-17 years do not require an adult chaperone but must adhere to all course rules and regulations. Event waiver(s) must be signed by the legal guardian of any participant under the age of 18.
  • 7 years and under cannot run the Sterling Down & Dirty 5K, but they can join as a spectator with adult supervision
  • First wave/start time is at 8:30 am and then every 10 mins until 10:30 am
  • Spectators are welcome

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING

Directions:
From I-95 South - Exit 32 - left off exit then left at light. Continue straight to end (St. James
Church in front of you) Right at light onto Main Street, continue approximately 1 mile, you will
see signs for "Event Parking"
From 1-95 North- Exit 30- right off exit, continue straight approximately 2 miles to Main Street.
Take a right at light onto Main Street continue approximately 1 mile, you will
see signs for "Event Parking"


PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 45 MIN TO PARK, WALK TO THE CHECK IN AREA & GET TO THE STARTING GATE

There will be ample and designated parking areas for participants and spectators. However, please try to car pool to eliminate excess cars taking spaces away from participants and spectators. There will be NO CHARGE to park and no charge for spectators to come cheer you on!

WHAT DO I WEAR? / WHEN DO I ARRIVE?
  • WEAR ANYTHING YOU DON'T MIND GETTING WET, DIRTY, SANDY, MUDDY OR STICKY
  • YOU MAY WEAR UTILITY GLOVES
  • SNEAKERS YOU CAN WALK, RUN, CLIMB, CRAWL, ETC - NO FLIP FLOPS
  • TEAM COSTUMES ARE WELCOMED... THE CRAZIER THE BETTER!
Plan to arrive at the registration/check-in table 20 minutes before your wave time.
Be sure to add-in enough time to walk from the parking areas to the registration table (approx. 10-15 min)


WHAT NOT TO BRING?

Your dog, your cat, your snake, your ferret, your hamster, etc...Short Beach does not permit animals on-site.

Do not bring headphones, baby carriage, weapons or fireworks.


IS THERE A 'BAG CHECK' AREA?

NO - PLEASE LEAVE VALUABLES AT HOME, IN YOUR CAR OR WITH YOUR CHEERING SQUAD - NO BAG CHECK AREA
Coolers are NOT allowed.


CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT?

YES! Providing you are at least 8 years of age and an adult/parent is participating with you. This event is a fun, family friendly community-wide event and beyond. It is not just for those who are fit, but it is totally for "The Average Joe" looking to have a great time. You will not be timed and the only person you will be competing against is yourself. You can go at your own pace. There's no need to rush. This is purely for fun, fun, fun!!


CAN I GET A REFUND IF I'M UNABLE TO ATTEND?

This is a fundraising event to benefit the Programs and Services at Sterling Community Center. All sales are final.
