The NSW School State Championships are open entry for all school students. There is no pre-qualification required. The 2026 events will be conducted by Orienteering NSW in association with the Goldseekers Orienteering Club.
Age classes range from under 10 years to 17+ years with A and B standard courses available.
Enter either or both days of competition.
Saturday afternoon - 15/8/2026
Venue: "Pineview", 135 Oaky Creek Lane, Vittoria, southeast of Orange (access via Mitchell Hwy between Bathurst and Orange)
Format: A "middle distance" race. It is held in a bush environment and designed to test cross-country navigation. It consists of open farmland with patches of forest and areas of complex granite. There are well-defined fences and tracks.
Courses are of medium length (1.5-6km depending on the age class). The winning time in each age class will be approximately 40 minutes. All participants must carry a whistle – if you do not have one, the event will supply one.
Sunday morning - 16/8/2026
Venue: Kinross Walaroi School in Orange
Format: Sprint distance urban event and Sprint Relay. The Sprint has lots of twists and turns. The Relay consists of three runners. Courses are short (1.5-3km depending on the age class) and are held in a school environment with clear boundaries. The winning time in each age class will be approximately 15-20 minutes. You can organize your own school team for the Relays or we will organize a team for you.
