Countdown to next swim
A new era for solo Rottnest Channel crossings
The Rotto Solo Series (previously known as Out of Event crossings) is one of Western Australia's most iconic open water swimming experiences, providing qualified swimmers with the opportunity to prepare for internationally recognised endurance swims such as the English Channel, Catalina Channel and the 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan Island.
Following a comprehensive review by Fremantle Ports and the Rottnest Channel Swim Association (RCSA), the Rotto Solo Series now features enhanced safety measures, clearer communication and a streamlined approval process designed to improve outcomes for both swimmers and commercial shipping. Rules - including support boat requirements - vary slightly from the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim, so please ensure you review these prior to registering.
Planning your own Rottnest Channel crossing? All approvals are now managed through the official RCSA Rotto Solo Series application process, making it easier than ever to apply and complete your crossing safely.
The swimmer (or one swimmer, in the case of tandems / trios) must register first and create a 'team' for their Skipper, Paddler and Observer to join, along with any other swimmers attached to the same support boat. Registrations must be completed by the individual and can't be completed on behalf of another person, except for a parent / guardian registering an underage participant.
Please be aware that all crossings remain subject to approval from Fremantle Port Authority and Department of Transport & Major Infrastructure.
