What is Run For Calgary
The Run for Calgary is an event that was created and organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for the sole purpose of providing a grassroots program to raise funds and awareness for non-profit and other social organizations in Calgary. The Run brings out serious and casual runners and walkers from all across Calgary. Participants come with their families and enjoy the festivities of the day.
Our History
The First Run for Calgary was held in 2010 and has become an annual event. In 2010 & 2011, the Run For Calgary raised $25,000 for the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness. In 2012, the event collaborated with the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and has since then, raised over $150,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Lastly, over the past two years the run has raised more than $35,000 in support of the Canadian Blood Services. Similar events are held across Canada: Run for Bradford www.runforbwg.ca and Run for Vaughan www.runforvaughan.com, which started in 2003 & has raised approximately $500,000 for the Vaughan Hospital Project.
