Join us for our South Holland Fun Run 5K on September 19, 2026!
The race starts at the beautiful Veterans Memorial Park (500 East 160th Place) in South Holland, Illinois. The opening ceremony begins at 7am. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes or accessories, and we will have some fun surprises along the course to keep participants entertained!
Your registration includes a race bag filled with a long-sleeve race shirt and many goodies (while supplies last). Everyone who finishes the race will receive a finisher's medal, and prizes are awarded to our top finishers.
A portion of all registration fees will benefit Restoration Ministries, a local organization that provides opportunities for underprivileged youth, men and women overcoming addiction, and families struggling in poverty.
This year's 5K course is officially USATF-certified, ensuring the course measures a true 5K (3.1 miles).

Packet & Race Shirt Pick-Up
Fun Run packet pick up will be held prior to the event at the Village of South Holland, 16226 Wausau Ave. Here you will receive your race bib, race shirt, and goodie bag.

Race Start
All participants will begin the race promptly at 7:30am. We will place runners/joggers at the front of the group, and walkers will be placed in the back. There will be a brief 3-5 minutes between each group.
A 20-minute mile pace or faster is required for the 5K race (approximately three miles per hour, equivalent to a brisk walk). If you fall below this pace, the South Holland Fun Run race organizers cannot guarantee course support, as road closures, water stations, and medical support will begin to become unavailable to participants. The local police and race organizers will ask you to either move up onto the sidewalk or require you to be transported further up on course to catch up to the 15-minute per mile group.
**NOTE: Participants will NOT be permitted to begin the race after the last group leaves the start line, for safety reasons. A Fire Department vehicle will follow the last group of walkers. Anyone who arrives at the start line after the Fire Department vehicle has departed will not be permitted to proceed. The Village will not issue refunds for late participants.**
Parking
Free parking is available at the following locations:
-First Reformed Church* – 15924 South Park Ave
-Municipal parking lots at Louis Ave and E 161st St (behind SoHo Shops)
*If you plan to park at First Reformed Church, you must arrive before 6:30am, when the road closes for the race. Vehicles in this lot will remain blocked until all participants have crossed the finish line. Anyone arriving after 6:30am should proceed to one of the other designated parking lots.
Medical
Medical support will be provided at the finish line, as well as along the course as needed.
Prizes & Race Medals
All participants will receive a finisher’s medal at the designated station. Age division winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place - male and female) will receive a medal. The first-place overall male/female finishers will receive a monetary prize.
Medal Ceremony begins at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Costume Contest
Because this is a FUN Run, we invite participants to wear costumes or accessories (that won't hinder your run/walk). We are having a costume contest, with three winner categories:
-Most Creative Costume
-Best Group Costume
-Best Kid's Costume (ages 0-18)
All costume winners will receive an Amazon gift card!
