Largest Team Award
Awarded to the organization, department, club, school, or community group that registers the highest number of participants. Intended to encourage team participation and community engagement.
Lancer Spirit Award
Awarded to the individual or team that best demonstrates enthusiasm, school spirit, creativity, and positive energy throughout the event. This may include team attire, encouragement of others, and overall event participation.
All Participants
Every registered participant who completes the race receives a commemorative finisher medal recognizing their participation and support of student scholarships through Carrera de los Lancers.
Registration & Check-In
When does the race begin?
The 5K race begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. All participants should be at the starting line before 10:00 a.m.
How do I register a team?
If you are participating in the 5K run/walk, you will need to complete your own registration regardless if you are signing up individually or as part of a team. To register a team, the team captain/leader should register themselves first and create the team.
To create a team, the team captain/leader should start their registration, select "Create New Team" in the Teams section of the registration page, and add the team name.
How to invite teammates to your team:
1. Once registration is completed, you will receive a link that you can share with your teammates, so they can complete their registration and be added to the team, or
2. Registrants can select an existing team in the Teams section of the registration page. This requires the team captain/leader to have previously created the team.
What time should I arrive?
- 9:30 a.m. if you picked up your bib before race day.
- 8:30 a.m. if you still need to pick up your bib on race morning.
Can I register on race day?
Yes, same-day registration will be available until 9:30 a.m., space permitting.

Can someone else pick up my bib?
Yes, however, they will need to have the registration confirmation email with barcode to pick up.
Racecourse
Where can I see the race route?
All runners will complete 1st loop before starting the 2nd loop. Completion of 1st loop and 2nd loop totals 5K (3.1 miles).

Is the course certified and timed?
The course is not certified by USATF, but racers will be timed.
How long is the course?
The course is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).
Will there be course volunteers?
Yes. Volunteers and directional signs will be located throughout the course to help guide runners and walkers.
Is the course stroller friendly?
Strollers are welcome. Please start toward the back of the starting group and be mindful of other participants. Also, please note that the racecourse transitions from pavement to gravel a various times throughout the route.
Can I walk instead of run?
Absolutely! Walkers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Parking
Where should I park?
The nearest parking lots to the check-in station and start line are lots 6, 7, 8 and 9. Accessible parking is available in lots 6, 7 and 8. We recommend arriving early to allow plenty of time to park, check in, and warm up before the race begins.

Race Day
Will there be water?
Yes. Water will be available before the race, at designated points on the course, and at the finish line.
Will there be restrooms?
Yes. Restrooms will be available inside Building F - CLC Gym
Will there be bagcheck
Yes. The bag check will be located next to the check-in table.
While we will do our best to monitor all belongings, please note that the College of Lake County is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items left at the bag check. We encourage participants to leave valuables in your car or at home whenever possible.
What happens if it rains?
The race will be held rain or shine unless severe weather creates unsafe conditions. Any updates will be shared via email and on the race webpage.
Can spectators attend?
Yes! Family, friends, and community members are encouraged to come cheer on participants and engage with the resource fair.
Awards
Will awards be given?
Yes! Awards will be presented following the race (approximate time 11:15am). Please see awards information in sections above for award categories.
Safety
Can I wear headphones?
Headphones are permitted, but participants should keep the volume low and remain aware of their surroundings and race volunteers.
Can I bring my dog?
Only service animals are permitted on the race course.
What if I need medical assistance?
Race volunteers will be available throughout the event. If you need assistance, notify the nearest volunteer immediately.

Who benefits from this race?
The Carrera de los Lancers supports student scholarships. Additioanlly, a portion of the proceeds also supports student entrepreneurship initiatives, helping students access educational opportunities and resources.
Can I transfer my registration?
Yes, please contact clcundocuallies@clcillinois.edu and allow 73 hours for processing.
Are refunds available?
Because the fee is a donation to the scholarship fund, there are no refunds after processing.
