3rd Annual Orange Shirt Day Run/Walk in Saskatoon to honor our little ancestors who did not survive the Residential school era; and simultaneously showing support and solidarity for the survivors who fight everyday for healing and justice. This event aims to raise funds for the Orangeshirtday.org; local grassroots movements here in Saskatoon and the ongoing promotion and support of Indigenous athletes in Saskatchewan. This event is a trail run that takes place on the beautiful Meewasin trail, winding through Victoria park and adjacent parks, rolling alongside the mighty Saskatchewan river. The start and finish line will be located at the "The Coming Spring", monument in Victoria park and includes three distances of 5km & 10km and an Elder & Kids walk/stroll/run of 2.15km. Cancellation policy can be found on our website Indigenousrunner.com
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada had estimated that more than 4,100 Indigenous children have perished due to "disease or accident while attending Residential school", yet we know that number is much higher. Tragically, ongoing investigations have revealed thousands more unmarked gravesites near to, or on the grounds of Canada's former Residential schools.
Please join us again on September 30th in remembrance and movement to spread the TRUTH and to proclaim loudly that, "EVERY CHILD MATTERS!!!!"

Route Information
This year's race/run/walk will once again be held on the Meewasin trail on the west side of the Saskatchewan river. Participants will need to meet at the ,"Coming Spring" monument located in Victoria park for the race marshalling and gathering area. Participants will assemble near the start/finish line to partake in the opening prayer/ceremony, hold space for one another while our esteemed elder prays to begin our race/run/walk in a beautiful and peaceful way. Directly preceding the opening event, participants will line up and prepare to undertake their registered distances of 2.15km, 5km and 10km distances. The race director will take this time to greet our eager participants with words of encouragement, support and the reason we continue to gather on the banks of the Saskatchewan river; for our Residential school survivors their legacy and our little ancestors who didn't make it home. Directly after the speaking with participants, the race director will lead a warm-up activity to ensure that racers, runners and walkers alike are ready to hit the trail in a safe and healthy way.
This year's race route will have our 2.15km distance for elders and children begin at the start/finish line bubble arch and they will be marshalled and directed to commence their race route that leads them towards the Victoria bridge. There will be bright and beautiful signage for the participants to follow and guide them back to the finish line.
The 5km and 10km racers, runners, and walkers will begin at the start/finish line bubble arch but they will be directed to follow the trail in the opposite direction of the 2.15km distance route. Previous to last year's run, the race route is an "out and back" course for all three distances.
The course will be flagged with pilons and orange shirt day logo signage. The 2.15km distance will have clearly marked signage to follow out and back.
The 5km and 10km distances will be equipped with water/aid stations that will also signify the turnaround points for the longer race distances.
