Our story…
Joey was born with a rare limb deformity called posteromedial tibial bowing. At just two years old, he underwent a procedure using an external fixator that gradually lengthened and straightened his bone over the course of several months.
We traveled to the International Center for Limb Lengthening at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, a program that specializes in deformity correction and limb reconstruction and today, Joey is thriving and living a happy, normal childhood.
We were fortunate that insurance covered a significant portion of his care, but not every family has that same access.
The Save-A-Limb Fund supports children and adults with complex limb and joint disorders helping to save limbs, preserve joints, and improve quality of life. The Fund assists families of patients who lack the financial resources to cover expenses insurance doesn't reach: initial clinical evaluations, transportation, housing, wheelchairs, walkers, postoperative care, and more.
This year at the race, Joey will be honored as a "Superstar" with his story and smile featured to help bring awareness and raise funds for an organization dedicated to giving other children born with similar conditions the same chance to thrive that he has today.
Any donation, large or small, makes a difference for families navigating what can be an overwhelming and costly journey. This cause is deeply personal to us, and we are grateful for any support you are able to give.
