Inaugural 1st annual Run/Walk to honor our little ancestors who did not survive the Residential school era and in support and solidarity for the survivors who fight every day for healing and justice. This event aims to raise funds for the Orangeshirtday.org as well as local grassroots movements including promoting and supporting Indigenous athletes. This will be a combination of pavement and gravel run overlooking the Glenmore Resevoir and Weaslehead Flats starting at North Glenmore Park and includes three distances of 5 & 10 km and an Elder/Kids 2.15 km. Not eleven years ago, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada had estimated that more than 4,100 Indigenous children have perished due to “disease or accident while attending a residential school", yet we know that number is much much higher. Tragically, ongoing investigations have revealed thousands more unmarked gravesites near to, or on the grounds of Canada’s former residential schools.

Course Maps
2.15km, 5km, and 10km will all begin at the same location at staggered times. All distances will start near the Calgary Canoe Club on the pedestrian pathway. All routes are out and back.
The 2.15km turnaround point is just past Parking Lot F, or above the Blue Heron Picnic Site.
The 5km route pulls back towards the Weaslehead Natural Area Parking lot and then back along the Glenmore Pathway. The turnaround point is right at the top of the hill the leads down into Weaslehead Natural Area.
The 10km route sticks along the same paved pathway the entire way out and back. The turnaround will be marked and is located right beside a bench, garbage bin, and a map of the Glenmore Reservoir.
