Welcome to the Friends of the Poor Walk 2026. This is the major fund-raising and spirit-building event of the year for Holy Family’s St. Vincent de Paul conference. All proceeds, which are tax deductible, go directly to the poor in crisis in our community. This year’s Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24. All are welcome, including our furry friends. We have lots of options for how you can help.
As a Fundraiser or a member of a Team, you’ll have your own web page so you can ask your family and friends to sponsor you.
The funds we raise will benefit our poor, disabled and struggling neighbors. The members of HFN’s SVdP conference are all volunteers who spend countless hours serving the poor. Last year more than 9,000 hours were devoted to service to the poor and our pantry made more than a thousand home deliveries of much needed food. We help struggling households by paying partial rents to prevent homelessness, sky-high electricity, and other expenses.
Registered walkers will receive a T-shirt. (A $10 donation is requested to cover the cost of the shirt.) Our supply of shirts on the day of the Walk will be limited, come out early to make sure you get one.
The Walk will start at Holy Family and proceed down Cheyenne Street to Northwest Park. Last year Father Dankasa led the way like the good shepherd he is. (Even though he made a wrong turn. Ha, Ha.) We hope Fr. Jeremy will join us this year. Once we arrive at Northwest Park, we’ll take a pleasant stroll or jog around the pond. And the kids can ride their scooters or bikes.
Christ calls us to serve the poor in our community. Join us as we walk in solidarity with the poor.
