The Bayleys Orewa Beach Fun Run is back for year two!

Timed 2.5 km and 5 km courses • Finishers medal • Supporting Ōrewa College

Whether you’re chasing a personal best or enjoying a beach stroll with friends and family, everyone is welcome. Choose a 2.5 km or 5 km course along beautiful Orewa Beach, entirely on the sand at low tide. No roads or footpaths, just fresh sea air and plenty of encouragement along the way.

We’re building on last year’s success to make this an annual event our community can be proud of. 100% of the event’s profits go to Ōrewa College, supporting the school and its students.

Bring your friends and whānau, and join us for a great morning on the beach for a great cause!

Bayleys Orewa Beach Fun Run 2026

Welcome to the only 5km beach fun run in Auckland

We’re back for year two! Join us on Orewa Beach for a timed 5km or 2.5km run or walk. Race for a time or take it at your own pace — everyone’s welcome.

On the day

  • Registration: From 8:00am at the marquee near the Orewa Surf Lifesaving Club
  • Safety briefing: 9:45am on the beach
  • Start: 10:00am, 1 hour before low tide
  • Start groups: Choose Race or Fun when you enter - if you choose race you will start at the front of the start line.
  • Race bib: All participants must register and wear their numbered bib

The Ōrewa College Kapa Haka group will open the event. The first 1,000 finishers receive a medal, and there’ll be a sausage sizzle after the run.

We try and make this event as sustainable as possible so please bring a filled water bottle and take home everything you bring.

Run or walk with friends and family: Groups of three or more receive $10 off per person when entered together in one transaction. All ages and distances can be mixed.

  • The 2.5km run/walk begins at the finish arch on Orewa Beach

  • The 2.5km course and the 5km event start at the same time.

  • If you have selected the ‘Fast wave/ Elite/ Competitive’ start group you will line up at the front of the field and start on the first hooter

  • If you have selected the ‘Fun wave’ you will start on the second hooter

  • Head north along the sand until you reach first ‘2.5km turn flag’ which is approximately half way down the beach.

  • Please stay to the left side of the course at all times.

  • After turning, continue back past the archway and make your way to the southern end of the beach, where you will reach the final turnaround flag.

  • From there, head back towards the archway and finish by running/walking through the arch.

  • At the finish, record your time and collect your finisher’s medal - enjoy a gorgeous day at Orewa Beach!
