My Story…
Mental health is something we all struggle with. Whether it be economic or financial stress, burnout at work, social related anxiety, insecurities with your self image, or any form of inner battles you may be facing, mental health and addictions is something that should be taken seriously.
Over the years, I have had my personal battles primarily surrounding my weight. At times, I weighed a 100 lb.'s over what was average for my height and age. Unfortunately, with weight related mental illness' the only thing that comforts you is more food! This leads to additional weight gain, and you guessed it, deeper mental battles. its a vicious cycle that took me an amazing support system and a lot of exhausting mental battles to break. Today I stand proud having lost 145+ lb's over my two separate weight loss journeys.
Knowing that I am but one of millions of people battling similar battles is a tough pill to swallow, but I am confident that these people can find their inner peace, just as a I did. It takes a lot of strength, and exhausting bouts of will power but it is possible. If I can do it, why cant they?
I hope by supporting the Joseph Brant Hospitals Mental Health and Addictions unit, together we can all take one step closer to alleviating mental illness'
