Hot Chocolate Races
The funds raised from The Hot Chocolates Races benefits the students, teachers and staff at Isaac Dickson Elementary School, an Asheville City School. The Asheville Hot Chocolate Races, the Isaac Dickson Parent Teacher Organization and Kick It Events have a no refund policy. Please see the guidelines below.
Adding on the Race Roster Enhanced Refund Protection Program is a service provided outside of Kick It Events and the Isaac Dickson PTO. With this purchase are subject to the Protecht Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before purchasing.
No refunds will be given if you signed up for this race by accident. Double check the city, date and time BEFORE registering.
In the event the race is postponed and you would like your race swag mailed to you, you will be required to pay the shipping cost for your race bib and race swag.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be postponed to January 30, 2027 or February 6, 2027, at the race directors discretion. There will be NO REFUNDS if the event needs to be postponed to either of those dates. That date will be chosen based on weather considerations.
Inclement weather determination is at the discretion of the race directors. We are looking for dangerous conditions for our runners and volunteers.
The postponement announcement will be made as early as we can. If there is surprise weather we reserve the right to postpone the race up until race morning. A Postponement announcement will be by 5am race morning at the very latest but earlier if possible.
If the event needs to be canceled due to a global pandemic or health emergency, there will be no refund. We will do our best with a virtual event or socially distanced race.
Race postponement will be emailed out to runners using the email used during registration, posted on the race website (www.hochocolateraces.com) as well as posted on our social media platforms.
Race updates will be sent to the email address you registered with. Always make sure that your email is correct. In the event that the postponement date needs to be canceled, there will not be another postponement and there will not be any refunds.
If you wish to move to a virtual runner, you will be required to pay the shipping cost for your race bib and race swag.
You may transfer your registration to another runner or to a different distance up to 5 days before the event using the transfer button on the registration page. After the 5 day cut off please reach out to Info@kickitevents.com for help with transferring.
By indicating your acceptance to PARTICIPANT, you understand, agree, warrant and covenant as follows:
In consideration of the foregoing, I for myself, my executors, administrators and assignee's, do hereby release and discharge the IDES-PTO, Kick It Ventures LLC, event organizers, event volunteers, sponsors and supporters for all claims and damages, demands, actions and whatever in any manner arising out of my participation in the Asheville Hot Chocolate Half Marathon, 10K, 1K Kids Hill Climb & Marshmallow Dash. I attest and verify that I have full knowledge of risk involved in this event and I and/or the people I am registering for, am physically fit and trained to participate in this event.
I also agree that I will not transfer race materials (including, but not limited to, bibs and timing chips) to another participant or run in their place without signing a waiver and officially notifying the race organization. Agreement to substitution requests lies solely with the race organizers. I agree to allow race organizers to utilize any image of me taken during the event for future race promotion.

FAQ
How do I get a refund or cancel my registration?
Please note, all registrations are non-refundable. Your registration price goes towards supporting the students and teachers of Isaac Dickson. Please look through our Refund/Transfer/Postponment Policy.
Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are allowed for all races. Please start at the BACK of the race pack and stay to the right. All roads are open so please not you are running alongside traffic at times.
Are dogs allowed?
For safety purposes, and in compliance with our race insurance, we do not allow dogs or any other animals to run with participants on any of the courses. Service animals will be allowes with prior approval. (More that 5 days ahead of race day send request to info@kickitevents.com)
Can I pick up my friend or family members packet?
Yes, we encourage you to grab your buddies packets. Make sure they know you are doing it.
What's the distance of the Marshmallow Dash?
The dash is approximately 400M. You can run along side your little one at the dash or meet them at the finish line.
