My Story…
In 2027, I’ll be running the Pittsburgh Marathon in honor of my dad, Raymond Glabicki, who passed away from cancer in 2019 at just 47 years old.
My dad battled cancer for much of his life. At age 10, he was treated for Hodgkin’s disease at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. As an adult, he later battled thyroid cancer and received care at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Through it all, he never lost his strength, sense of humor, or love for life. He was an incredible dad, and so much of who I am today comes from him.
Since losing him, giving back to families affected by cancer has become especially important to me. Over the years, I’ve fundraised for UPMC Children’s, mentored individuals and families through Cancer Hope Network, and supported initiatives at Michigan Medicine’s Rogel Cancer Center.
My dad and I were both born and raised in Pittsburgh, and I can’t imagine a more meaningful place to run 26.2 miles in his honor. I’m grateful to support the hospital that once cared for him and help other children and families facing similar challenges.

As part of Team Children's, my participation in the 2026 Pittsburgh Marathon supports UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation.
Funds support the patients and families served by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Last year UPMC Children's Hospital had over 1 million patient visits and many of the programs, initiatives, and resources that make UPMC Children’s so special are funded by philanthropic gifts. Things like distraction therapy which provides patients something else to focus on during their medical procedures, the Child Life Department which provides many activities to create a sense of normalcy for hospitalized children, and the Free Care Fund which covers the cost of medical care for those that cannot afford it. These areas are not covered by insurance, yet are critically important to helping families face the many challenges that accompany a child’s treatment.
