Indian Ocean Challenge 2/15/2027 to 3/8/2027
9 Marathons in 9 South / East Asia countries in less than 3 weeks with a low-cost itinerary. We planned the location of races in each country so you can get from one country to another with no wasted time, mostly direct nonstop flights. We start with 1- Myanmar Yangon, 2- Cambodia Phnom Penh, 3- Laos Vientiane, 4- Sri Lanka Colombo, 5- Maldives Male or 5- India Chennai, 6- Bangladesh Dhaka, 7- Timor Leste Dili 8- Indonesia Bali and end with number 9- Bhutan Thimphu Marathon.
You may choose to run in as many countries as you want, each race will have a separate registration, and you may sit out and skip a country. The host hotels are picked and designed to be the start of each marathon course, with the opportunity to stay in other low-cost hotels nearby.

- Early Bird limit per event is capped at 20 runners for each race, registration for all races will close once reached 20 per event or 2 days prior to the event.
- Early Bird Registrations Fee For each Marathon includes a finisher medal, a bib number and official finisher time for each event posted on the website. Late registrants are not guaranteed to get a finisher medal, please sign up at least one month before the event date. Runners registered for 4 or more marathons / countries will receive an extra Challenge Medal.

- Distribution of the bib numbers and mandatory race briefings location - Host Hotel 5pm the evening before each event. Race director reserves the right to deny your entry / start if you miss the briefing.
- Start - All runners will start at the same time, at sunrise for each event / country. The start times of all marathons are subject to change depending on weather and local conditions and safety. (We could start before sunrise if found safe for running in the dark)
- Courses - All courses are being evaluated many times to ensure safety of runners. We will try our best to keep courses on flat and paved terrain (not guaranteed) with multi laps for all countries. Courses will be measured by race director many times with different GPS and measuring devices to ensure the correct distance of 26.2 miles or 42.2 kilometers or greater. The runners are advised to stay on the course unless needed to use restrooms or purchase drinks along the course. The GPS devices cannot be paused during stops. If runners are reported by marshals to go off the course other than the mentioned above, it may result in a DQ.
- Finish - Cut-off time 9:00 after start (No Runner Left Behind)
- Timekeeping - The distance covered will be controlled by independent timekeeper (s) under the control of the Race Director. It is mandatory for each runner to carry a GPS-watch or other GPS devices with minimum 9 hours battery capacity as an additional distance control. We will also have course marshals as we have in the past to monitor the runners during the run.
- Awards - All finishers of the respective marathon will receive a medal, finish results list and (finisher certificate is being considered).
- There are absolutely no refunds issued. These are low-cost events with minimal registration fees. The fee is to automatically place orders for medals and bibs and cover some of the volunteer costs. All races will be limited to 20 runners based upon a first come, first serve. The organizer reserves the right to reject registrations without giving reasons.
- The Interested runners are advised to register as soon as races are open, the registration is based on first come first serve.
- Important Note: Be advised that visas might be required and that it is the sole responsibility of the participants to obtain these. We endeavor to establish courses on public running paths or parks, which are mostly exempt from the need for permits for small events, but will follow local guidelines and the guidance of local running clubs. We will check and confirm this for each marathon / country and will submit it to certain running clubs before event dates. This is an extra step we are taking for some of our runners that are members of different clubs that keep track of countries, it does not guarantee approval of the clubs. Every runner participates solely in their own risk. The organizers cannot be made liable in case a race cannot be staged due to circumstances not under their control or the race is stopped by authorities. The races are self-supporting, which means the participants bring their own drinks and nutrition for the race. By registration for any of the races listed you agree / sign waver to all conditions mentioned above. It is advised to obtain travel insurance for emergencies, flight cancellations etc...
