Federation Ultra Trail


Born from a sense of adventure and a love for exploring our own backyard, the inaugural Federation Ultra Trail was held in 2018. The course traverses the southern end of the Lavender/Federation Trail from Monarto Safari Park, through the Kinchina Conservation Park, to the riverside trailhead at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge.

The Federation Ultra Trail runs on a totally unique course that isn't touched by other trail running event.

Runners are treated to exclusive access to Monarto Safari Parks walking trails that allows them glimpses of roaming Wild African animals including Meerkats, Giraffe, Bison, Chimpanzees and Rhinos. Proceeds from the event have exceeded $50,000 and have been donated to Monarto Safari Park to help protect endangered species.

In 2019, the Federation Ultra Trail was proud to become a part of the first S.A. Five 50’s Ultra series; where runners take on the mammoth challenge of completing 5 of S.A.’s Trail Ultras. This series is now in its 9th year.

  • Run the Monarto Safari Park loop before exiting onto the Lavender Federation Trail. You’ll get to pound around the Kinchina Conservation Park before hitting the final stretch to Murray Bridge.

  • Target your half-trail marathon PR with the rapid 26 km course. You’ll start on the finely cured Monarto Safari Park tracks before hitting the Lavender Federation Trail and zipping through the Northern section of the Kinchina Conservation Park. It’s a quick and slightly downhill run to the finish at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge.
