60KM Solo & Relay
Distance: 60km
Elevation Gain: 2650m
Terrain: Technical, steep, (!) scree (!)
Cutoff Time: 13hrs
The 60KM course delivers the ultimate Folding Mountain Ultra experience, split into two unique and epic legs.
Leg 1 – Cap Ridge Loop (33KM)
Climb roughly 900m in the first 15KM to crest Cap Ridge before cruising back down to Folding Mountain Landing. The terrain mixes steep early climbs with fast, runnable descents.
Leg 2 – Folding Mountain Trail (27KM)
Leaving AS3, you’ll start with an immediate climb — about 980m of ascent over 9KM, with nearly 660m packed into the first 4KM. It’s steep and relentless, but once you're up, the trail rolls through forest and open ridgelines with views into Jasper National Park that’ll stop you in your tracks.
(!) SCREE SECTION (!)
Near the summit, you’ll cross a short scree section (loose gravel on a steep slope). It’s short, technical, and completely worth it. Cresting the top of Folding Mountain, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the Canadian Rockies.
From the summit, you'll head out along a challenging ridge towards the turnaround point. At the turnaround point, you'll find a mini cowboy hat token that you'll retrieve to take back to AS 4/5 to show volunteers as proof of reaching the end of the line. If you do not have your token, you will either need to turn back or DNF.
*Tip: take a photo of the cowboy hat when you retrieve it just in case you lose it along the way.
The descent back toward Folding Mountain Landing winds through alpine meadows and forest, with views along Roche Perdrix the whole way. The trail back is fun, flowy, and fast if you still have the legs for it. From there, you'll run back past Jasper East Hostel, through the cabins, and into the finish line!
The 60KM can be raced solo or as a two-person relay team, with the exchange point at base camp between legs.
*Course routes are subject to change. Final maps and GPX downloads will be released in Spring 2027.
60km Course Map
25KM Solo
Distance: 25km
Elevation Gain: 1165m
Terrain: Technical, Steep
Cutoff Time: 13hrs
An out-and-back route up Folding Mountain, this 25KM course captures everything that makes the Rockies special. Runnable trails, steep climbs, and sweeping views that only get better the higher you go.
Starting at Folding Mountain Landing, runners head out on a fast 6KM section to the first aid station where they'll loop back toward base camp. Once back at the main transition area (AS3), they'll head out to commence the climb up the Folding Mountain Trail.
Leaving the Landing, you’ll start with an immediate climb of about 980m of ascent over 9KM, with nearly 660m packed into the first 4KM. The trail winds through forest and open ridgelines, offering stunning views of Roche Perdrix (the entrance to Jasper National Park) and the Athabasca River Valley below.
There are plenty of runnable sections along the way, and the views only get better as you climb. You’ll reach the false summit aid station, perched just before the mountain’s scree section which is your turnaround point.
From there, let gravity take over. The descent down Folding Mountain is fast, flowy, and FUN. Smooth trail, mountain air, and panoramic views all the way back to Folding Mountain Landing and through the cabins where the finish line, music, and a finisher's beer await.
*Course routes are subject to change. Final maps and GPX downloads will be released in Spring 2027.
