PARIS TO ANCASTER
Bicycle Race
For over a century, the roads of northern Europe have been home to the toughest bicycle races in the world. The most famous of these, Paris to Roubaix, takes place each spring over brutal cobblestone roads that have been preserved in their historic condition for over 100 years. Inspired by this classic race, the Paris to Ancaster has taken place since 1994 over the most memorable gravel roads, farm lanes, and rail trails we can find. Please join us on April 25th, 2027 to become part of the history of this unique race! The prices below include mandatory processing fees automatically added to the base price of each sub event. P2A CENTO
The P2A CENTO is a point-to-point route which begins at the Paris Fairgrounds in Paris, Ontario.
CENTO means "one hundred" in Italian, which is the approximate distance of this race, although we’ve now managed to push the distance above 110km. Its name is derived from Latin, meaning a patchwork, like a quilt or jacket, or in our case, a patchwork of gravel roads, rail trails, farm laneways, etc.
The first third of the route takes riders through quiet gently rolling gravel roads and along the Grand River Rail Trail to reach the south end of Cambridge. After a short section through some city parks and bike paths, the route returns to the countryside in North Dumfries and into some more rolling terrain after joining up with the Classic route just after 50km.
The route then passes-through a series of private property sections before reaching the rest stop in Harrisburg just before 80km. From there, the route tackles a series of rail trails, gravel roads and farm laneways on its way to the iconic final 7km section in the Dundas Valley.
Tackled first is the muddy descent of the Mineral Springs (approx. 300m long), then 2km on rolling gravel, and then the longer, but equally muddy, descent of Powerline Road (approx. 500m long) before reaching Gravel Pit Rd. The route then descends into the Dundas Valley before tackling the equally legendary climb up Old Martin Road.
You're only 3km from the finish, you’re likely tired, and this is a challenging section. If you can stay on your bike for the whole climb, give yourself a big pat on the back and push through the Finish Line at the top. Challenge yourself on this true epic!
P2A CLASSIC
The P2A CLASSIC is approximately 70km long and begins at Waynco Aggregates just south of Cambridge, Ontario.
Since 1994 thousands of riders have tackled this iconic route, and sometimes the elements, at “Ontario’s Spring Classic”.
The first third of the route takes riders through quiet gently rolling gravel roads in North Dumfries and through a series of private property sections before reaching the rest stop in Harrisburg.
From there, the route uses a series of rail trails, rolling gravel roads and scenic farm laneways passing through Lyden and Jerseyville on its way to the iconic final 7km section in the Dundas Valley.
Tackled first is the muddy descent of the Mineral Springs (approx. 300m long), then 2km on rolling gravel, and then the longer, but equally muddy, descent of Powerline Road (approx. 500m long) before reaching Gravel Pit Rd. You're only 3km from the finish, you’re likely tired, and this is a challenging section. If you can stay on your bike for the whole climb, give yourself a big pat on the back and push through the Finish Line at the top. Join us and experience “Ontario’s Spring Classic”!
P2A BRÈVE
The P2A BRÈVE is approximately 45km long and begins at the St. George Arena in St George, Ontario. Compared to the other P2A race distances, it is brief, or "brève" in French.
Starting in 2001 we have offered this shorter route which still gives riders an authentic Paris to Ancaster experience
After 5km on paved roads leaving St. George, the route passes through Harrisburg before travelling along a series of rail trails, rolling gravel roads and scenic farm laneways. The route passes through Lyden and Jerseyville on its way to the iconic final 7km section in the Dundas Valley.
Tackled first is the muddy descent of the Mineral Springs (approx. 300m long), then 2km on rolling gravel, and then the longer, but equally muddy, descent of Powerline Road (approx. 500m long) before reaching Gravel Pit Rd.
