Mobility and Strength Program for Swimmers
I am pleased and excited to announce that Zone3sports and Evolve Strength and Conditioning (953 Somerset Street West) are teaming up to offer Ottawa’s first Mobility and Strength Program designed specifically for swimmers.
This program focuses on enhancing joint mobility, flexibility, and developing the strength required to improve swimming biomechanics, helping you optimize your swimming performance. This unique program has been created with expertise in the fields of strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and injury prevention, as well as swimming and triathlon coaching. We’re offering 23 classes over 12 weeks (with options of 1x per week or 2x per week) of swim specific functional movement training to help you progress your stroke technique on dry land and translate it to swimming efficiency in the water.

About the instructors:
Michael Patone, BPHE, BA
Michael is the head strength coach and leader of Evolve Strength and Conditioning. Michael graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education, as well a Bachelor of Arts.
Michael is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Michael’s vast experience working with high performance athletes includes assisting with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2010 season, working with the Kingfish Swim Club, the University of Ottawa’s Swim Team, and para-swim athletes, alpine skiers, Canadian bobsled team members, professional hockey and football athletes.
Kristin Gauthier, BScHK, MScPT, Canadian Olympian
Kristin is a Registered Physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Masters in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Human Kinetics. Kristin has a strong therapeutic exercise foundation and a special interest in orthopaedic and sports injury rehabilitation. Kristin focuses on identifying dysfunctional movement patterns, implementing hands on techniques in combination with therapeutic corrective exercises to help restore optimal movement patterns and function.
Kristin was a member of the Canadian National Sprint Kayak team for eight years (2005-2012). Kristin competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China and was a 2011 Pan American Champion.
Chris Wellsman, BPHE
Chris is a Strength and Conditioning specialist who completed a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education degree at Queen's University. Chris also received a Diploma in Sports Management from Camosun College. Chris competed as a four-year member of the Queen's Varsity Soccer program and played two seasons of semi-professional soccer for the Kingston Clippers in League 1, Ontario. Chris gained valuable experience working as as a strength and conditioning intern with Queen's Varsity athletics, coaching hundreds of athletes over his four years.
