RUN UNDER THE STARS ALL NIGHT RUNS - THE SERIES
RUN ONE... RUN THEM ALL... THE CHOICE IS YOURS
This is a series of night time runs. 2016 marks the 10th running of the RUTS at Carson Park Horse Track in Paducah. It has grown into a major event; and we THANK YOU!!! for that.
Several people have asked over the years why we didn't have RUTS events in other parts of the region. Other than it being a major undertaking, we didn't have a good reason why not. Sooo... this is the year!
We thought it would be kinda cool to have different venues with varying surfaces, and different loop distances. A little bit like NASCAR. We currently have four in the series, and we're working on a fifth. Whether we have more is up to you.
You know the concept: You will have 10 hours (beginning at 8pm - ending at 6am), to Run, jog, walk, rest, stop and start as much as you'd like.
The objective is to see how far you can go; however you can stop at any time if you've reached your goal or if you've had enough.
You can run as an individual; or on a 2person or 4person relay team. Over 85% run as individuals.
Durbin Race Management is working in conjunction with some talented race directors and groups to put on the Series.
A portion of the entry fees go to the local Relay for Life.
VENUES:
April 23 - Marion, IL - Williamson County Fairgrounds on a 1km gently paved course around the horse track.
Thanks to Marion Chamber and Williamson Co Fairgrounds, Gene Tincher, and Michael Ahrens for their help.
This turned out to be an awesome course and we had lots of fun. Thank you to everyone who came and made it special. Congrats to Cathy Downes and Scotty Winston for their wins.

May 21 - Oak Ridge, TN - AK Bissell park. A 1.33 (4miles for 3 loops) figure 8 dirt trail with a light covering of small rock (the easy to run on type). Grass surrounds most of the trail so you'll have that option as well.
June 11 - Paducah, KY at the Carson Park 1/2 mile horse track. Where it began.
West Kentucky Runners Club have put this race on for 10 years now.
July 9 - Corydon, IN - Harrison County Fairgrounds 1/2 mile horse track. Very similar to Paducah, but with better rest rooms. (Showers!) Shannon and Pat Burke are ready to take care of us there.
August 27 - Knoxville, TN - Sam Duff Memorial Park. A throwback to the good old days of ultrarunning. 1/4 mile track on the old Young High School football field. Just 2 miles from downtown Knoxville.

Highlights
Runners may run in as many of the events as they like. Shirts, caps, medals, and top finishe awards will be given just like we've always done in Paducah. However, Series Points will be awarded based on the number of miles run, as well as the number of runners in the event. (The larger the event, the more points awarded). At the end of the season, awards will be doled out.
In addition to the Series points, each event will have a separate contest within the event. Any runner may choose to enter the separate contest. Before the the race starts, put $20 into the kitty... $5 of the twenty will go directly to the race charity (Relay for Life). The race will match this $5 for a total of $10. The rest, $15/runner entered will go into a pot. At the end of the event, the pot will be distributed based on numbers drawn from a box. The number of drawings will be dependant upon the number of entrants. Everyone entered will have a chance to win, regardless of their miles run.
CHIP TIMING SYSTEM will keep your distance recorded. We will display your distance continually at the timing tent. Check the monitor. Hard copies will be posted hourly.
No traffic, no hills, no roots, no hard running surface.
NO HOT SUN BEATING DOWN ON YOU.
This could possibly be the course you'll set a personal best for whatever distance you run.
