  • Pefect for first timers, seasoned vesterans, and those looking to stay active, all while in an event atmosphere.

Can You Participate?

ABSOLUTELY!  Just be prepared for a great experience and bring a positive attitude!

Youth Triathlon

The Dave Staley Youth Triathlon is a non-competitive, fun and safe event designed for ages 6-13 years old. We promote and celebrate participation in three fun "lifestyle" sports - swimming, biking, and running. Our philosphy is "Let's have FUN!" with an emphasis on completing vs competing.

Parents: After your youth finishes, we asked that you stay with your child at the Finish Line until the last youth finishes in that triathlon. We want a festive, fun finish line experience for all kids participating regardless of whether they are first or last.

Swim Start

The Dave Staley triathlon swim takes place in the Mingo Park pool.  There are eight designated lanes for the swim. To accomodate all athletes, the swim portion will progress as follows:

Adult Swim Course

Note: Swim progression is new in 2016> Swimmers will line-up based on predicted time submitted during registration. First swimmer will enter the pool followed by the next swimmer approximately 8-10 seconds later.  The length of the pool is 25 yards. Athletes will swim counter clockwise down-n-back in the lane, enter next lane under rope, repeat until they have swam down-n-back in all 8 lanes to complete their 400 yard swim.

Youth Swim Course

Two swimmers will be assigned per lane. The length of the lane and is 25 meters. Athletes will swim back-n-forth within their 25 meter length until completion of their respective laps.
