Iron Hawk 2016
Sprint Duathlon, Do-A-Du, Relay, 5K Run, Youth Duathlon
NOTICE: Youth Duatlon Races will now begin at Noon.
Welcome to the 5th Annual
Iron Hawk Duathlon
The Iron Hawk Duathlon is the culmination of the
Iron Hawk campaign at Harrow District High School.
The Iron Hawk campaign promotes mental health through the participation
in various activites including yoga, zumba, meditation, music, reading, running, biking and self-defence.
This year's theme is "Making Noise About Mental Health."
The course is very flat and very straight with minimal turns on
both the run and bike courses resulting in very fast times!!!!
The Iron Hawk was started in 2012 by Harrow District High School due to a combination of events that came together at the right time. First, Lionel Sanders, a former Harrow District High School student, returned to town with his coach Barrie Shepley, also a Harrow graduate, seeking support for his goal to become a triathlete. He had chosen this path to help him overcome his addiction to drugs. Secondly, Sylvia Motruk, a current student at Harrow, came forward to tell the school about with her own mental health struggles. Finally, through the leadership of the school principal, Mr. Kyle Berard, the idea of organizing and hosting a race was born.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to
the Soaring Hawk Fund at Harrow District High School.
There will be no refunds.
This is an outdoor event and will run rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the event will be delayed and started when it is safe.
