The BRAINIACS is a group of people from diverse backgrounds who have been brought together because we share a common bond-- each of us is a determined survivor of a traumatic brain injury. Through weekly meetings under the guidance of psychologist Dr. Heidi Spitz, we strive to provide group members with a source of support and understanding so that we can more effectively cope with the myriad physical and emotional challenges we face daily. Our hope is to ensure that no one who is affected by the life-altering consequences of a brain injury, which can include loss of abilities, independence, personality changes, professional adjustments and changes in family structure, has to endure these traumas alone.
