Nicole and Kenneth Dean had been praying for a baby and going through fertility treatments for years. After many disappointments, they began pursuing adoption and were thrilled to be matched with a birth mom. On August 7th, precious Asher Michael Dean was born and Nicole and Kenneth became ecstatic new parents.    It was quickly discovered, however, that Asher needed open heart surgery to fix an arterial issue. They were sent to a children’s hospital, waiting for Asher to become stronger for surgery. On August 20, Kenneth drove back home to get some work done at his company while waiting to hear on Asher’s surgery date. That night, a debilitating headache took him to the ER.  After tests, he was diagnosed with possible meningitis. In the ICU, his symptoms rapidly escalated, and despite efforts from the hospital staff, Kenneth passed away on August 23.
