On January 12, 2001, I received a life-saving heart transplant. Thanks to my donor family (and the team that helped guide them through the process of organ donation), it's now been over 16 years that I have been able to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I am running the half-marathon in honor of Mindy, my donor. Without her (and her families choice to donate), I wouldn't be here today.
