An Event with FUN as the Focus
The Muskoka Kids Tri is an event for kids who like to have fun. Many participants are first-time triathletes. This is NOT an event suitable for kids looking for a super-competitive triathlon experience. No wetsuits for any age group. No clipless pedals for racers 14 and under. No training wheels.
This is also an ideal event for parents to 'try a tri'. We highly encourage this! There is a long tradition of whole families participating and kids getting inspiration from watching their parents participate.
The Muskoka Kids Tri sells out early every year. There are only so many people that can fit into our transition area at Port Sydney Beach. Because we want to have as many spaces as possible for kids - there are only 50 adult spots available. Ideally these spots will be filled by the parents of the kids participating.
Participants in the adult category be able to swim the 400m without a life jacket. This relates to the timing of opening the transition area for participants who have completed their triathlon.
Charity for 2018
We are very excited to announce that this year's Muskoka Kids Tri will be raising money for THINK BIG, LOOK BACK, START SMALL - a social Action Council for Youth. Organized by YWCA Muskoka.
Think Big Look Back Start Small is a social action council for youth aged 14-29 that celebrates local arts & culture and female trailblazers while providing participants with the opportunity to be leaders within their community. Organized by YWCA Muskoka, the youth council meets once a month to plan and organize community action days and excursions in order to give back to the community in a fun and rewarding way. This project allows for council members to receive e-learning webinars courtesy of the Government of Canada and the YWCA Canada on topics including storytelling, financial literacy, and event management to support them in creating their own community event. Overall, the youth council presents young people in our community with a space and environment for learning, growth and leadership among their peers.
You can donate to this amazing program on your registration page. Donations of $20 or more will receive charitable tax receipts.
