We are pleased to welcome men and women walkers at the 2018 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event, taking place on Saturday, September 29th, 2018. The walk is still taking place in Victoria Park (downtown, London) - this year we have a live band, family BBQ and fun activities!
ABOUT THE WALK
Each year, an ever-increasing number of men are joining Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is a fun opportunity for men to educate the community about a very serious subject and to rally the community to take action to prevent sexualized violence – and raise money for women’s shelters and women’s emergency services.
Join the local Walk a Mile In Her Shoes® at Victoria Park in downtown London, on Saturday, September 29th in support of Anova, formerly Women's Community House and Sexual Assault Centre London, to create a future without violence.
One in every four women is abused. That means someone you know, someone you care about, has been or may become a victim of abuse. It may be your mother, your sister, your friend, your coworker or your daughter. Woman abuse does not just affect women. It affects the men who care about them, their families, their children, their friends, their co-workers and the community.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® provides several opportunities to get people talking. For preventive education it helps men better understand and appreciate women’s experiences thus changing perspectives, and it demonstrates that men are willing and able to be courageous partners with women in making our world a safer place.

We have provided pictures to help demonstrate the fine-art of walking in high heels. As you can see from previous years’ walkers – it’s not as hard as it looks. You may even have a bit of fun doing it!
• Make sure your shoes fit you well
• Wear your shoes a few times to break them in before you participate in the walk
• Wear band-aid to prevent blisters
• Practice standing in high heels so you can get a sense of the shoes and your posture
• Put your shoulders back
• Tuck in your stomach
• Stick out your chest
• Land on the balls of your feet and not your heels
• Use your thigh muscles when you lift your feet
• Walk one foot in front of the other
• Take your time to walk the first few steps to avoid tripping
• Walk confidently and have fun!
