My Story…
Over the years I have had a hard time admitting that my disability impacted my life. I am normal, right? Yes, I still encounter the questions like, "you're too pretty to be in a wheelchair". "Wow, I am so sorry you are disabled", "It must suck to have a crappy life", "you work in a wheelchair?!?!?!". Imagine how crappy it feels to know that most of society really thinks you're incapable!??! But despite what society continues to tell me, I fully believe that I am normal, and I love my life! and I will continue to love it. I want to share my love of life and what I've accomplished with others and make sure others know who are in my situation that they can live a full and normal life. But the more people I meet the more I realize how many people struggle every day to live "normal" lives.
I believe in order to fight and make a difference it starts with confidence and information. That's where Spinal Cord Injury BC comes in to help. I've learned how far we have come to help people.
