Description
Pacific Immigrant Resources Society
Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a community-based, non-profit organization serving immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975. We reach more people through our neighbourhood-based programs, such as free English language classes with free childcare and programs to help increase employability. Our programs are safe places for immigrant and refugee women and their young children to build confidence and make friends. We aim to increase accessibility and opportunities for participants to learn about their community and their country. Also, all of our services are trauma-informed to help participants safely find their place in Canadian society.
Help Us Invest In Diversity
Canada continues to be home of diverse cultures. Vancouver is home to 913,300 immigrants, 40.0% of Vancouver's total population (Statistics Canada, July 25, 2018). At Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS), our mission is to empower immigrant and refugee women to fully participate in Canadian life through neighborhood-based programs. We served 1,263 participants in 2018 through 20 different programs. This year, we have been able to offer free Language classes to immigrant and refugee women. Our future wish is for all PIRS programs to be free of charge.
Help us invest in diversity--We appreciate everyone’s support!
