8th Annual National 5K SCADaddle for Research

Saturday June 8, 2019 9:00 am

Our Cause

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood type of heart attack. Most patients are younger healthy women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can recur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.

SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.

Our chip-timed 5K trail Run/Walk takes place on a USATF certified crushed limestone course at beautiful Danada Forest Preserve, Wheaton, IL. The course winds through the preserve's beautiful landscape.

All runners & walkers will be timed. Awards will be given to overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place male/female overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 and older.

Race Details

Chip Timing:  We use a disposable chip timing tag that runners receive at packet pick up on their race bibs. It is lightweight and remains attached to the race bib. Runners must wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing in order to be timed accurately.  Please do not layer over the bib.

Runners MUST wear their race bibs on the front of their clothing in order to be timed accurately. The bib cannot be covered, holding it in your hand or putting it in your pocket will NOT read the chip. Do not bend the chip.  Smart watches such as Garmin and smart phones can interfere with the timing chip frequency.  Please do not adjust your watch or phone as you cross the finish line and come through the chute.  Disputes for times on Smart watches and smart phones will not be taken into consideration.

Early Packet Pick-Up  TBA

Please bring waivers to early packet pick up or race day.

Race Day Registration: 7:30am - 8:15 am.  Cannot guarantee a race shirt for race day registration. Please note, online registration closes at midnight on Thursday June 6. Registration will be taken at packet pick-up and on race day.
