Due to the increase in COVID cases and the uncertainty of the upcoming months, the RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon committee made the decision to move to a virtual event, the first time ever in its 48 year history! Below are some frequently asked questions pertaining to the 2020 Virtual RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon. Further details will be sent to all race entrants before race week arrives.

How will the virtual RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon work?

Participants who choose to run the marathon or half marathon virtually will run the appropriate mileage of their race distance registration anywhere they choose any day between 12am September 7, 2020 and 11:59pm September 14, 2020. Once their run is complete, participants will enter their results and upload a photo proof of timing using the 2020 Virtual Race Results link on the Results page of the website. Finisher medals will be provided to all participants who enter their results and upload proof of timing.

If I choose to run the virtual marathon or half marathon, can I complete the 26.2 or 13.1 miles over multiple days?

No. Virtual race participants will be required to complete the marathon/half marathon distances continuously within a six and a half hour time period, on the same day, and not broken up over several days.

Do I have to run the official Run AJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon or Half Marathon route in Jackson Tennessee?

No. You can choose to run anywhere as long as it contains the appropriate mileage of your race distance registration.

What happens if I registered to run the virtual Marathon distance and come race week choose to only run the Half distance?

We would be sad to see this happen due to the amount of training put into a marathon. But, this is totally acceptable. Once your race is completed, you must make sure to enter your finish time and upload a photo proof to the half marathon results page. You will receive the half marathon finisher medal.

What will I receive if I finish the virtual RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon or Half Marathon?

All participants who complete the virtual race, enter their finish time and upload a photo proof on the results page will receive our custom-designed RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon long-sleeve hoodie, medal, and finisher’s certificate.

Will there be awards given out for the virtual races?

Once all results have been submitted, we will acknowledge the following top finishers for both the marathon and half marathon: Top Male and Female Overall Finisher, Masters Male and Female, Grandmasters Male and Female and Senior Grandmasters Male and Female winners.

Can I use my virtual RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon time as a qualifying time for the 2021 Boston Marathon?

In following the standards set by the virtual 2020 Boston Marathon, virtual race times that are submitted to confirm participation in the virtual 2020 RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon will not count towards qualification for the 2021 Boston Marathon.

Do I have to submit my finish time and photo proof?

Any participant wishing to receive a finisher medal must upload their finish time and photo proof to the 2020 virtual Run AJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon and Half Marathon race results using the 2020 Virtual Race Results link on the Results tab. Your confirmation number is needed in order to upload results. This information will be provided to all of our race participants via email in the coming weeks.

Where do I submit my finish time and photo proof?

How to manually upload results with photo proof

How do I provide photo proof?

Before you run, you must track your race using a GPS device or running app, i.e. Garmin watch, Apple Watch, Strava, RunKeeper, Nike Run Club, etc. Once you cross your virtual finish line, snap a photo of the results on your device or get a screenshot to upload. Photo proof must at least show mileage and finish time.

Will you still be taking Beary Best Friend stuffed animal donations? If so, where do I bring them?

Most definitely! The Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse provides services to all of rural West Tennessee. Our goal is to provide each child with a Beary Best Friend as it’s such an important part of the healing process for that child. If you have teddy bears you’d like to donate, they can be dropped off when you pick up your medal/t-shirt at Fleet Feet Jackson, 398 Oil Well Road, Jackson TN or at the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse central office, 213 Cheyenne Drive, Jackson, TN.

How can I defer my registration to the 2021 Run AJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon?

Registrants who choose to defer their registration must indicate so before August 21, 2020. Please login to www.raceroster.com to your participant dashboard. Click the “Edit registration” button. The question “How would you like to move forward? Please select one of the options below” will be asked. You have two options to choose from: “I would like to defer my registration to April 3rd, 2021” or I would like to participate this year, September 2020.” Select the “I would like to defer my registration to April 3rd, 2021” option and click the green “Save” button to complete the process.

If I select to defer my 2020 entry, will I have to pay again when I sign up for the race in 2021?

No. If you choose the defer option, your 2020 RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon or Half Marathon entry fee will be deferred to the April 3, 2021 race. Deferred registration only applies to the 2021 race.

If I select to defer my 2020 entry, when will I receive information on what to do to claim my 2021 race entry?

All participants who choose to defer their 2020 entry will receive an email with instructions regarding their guaranteed entry when the registration window opens for the April 3, 2021 RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon/Half Marathon.

Will I still receive the 2020 race shirts if I choose to defer our registration to the 2021 race?

Yes. All participants who registered for the 2020 RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon/Half Marathon during the guaranteed time frame will receive their shirt. For those participants who live locally, shirts can be picked up at Fleet Feet Jackson, 398 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN. For those participants who live away arrangements will be made. This information will be provided to all of our race participants via email in the coming weeks.

Will I receive a 2020 finisher medal if I choose to defer my registration to the 2021 race?

No. Finisher medals will be given only to those participants who upload their results/photo proof upon completion of their appropriate mileage.

Why are you not offering refunds?

We understand your concern. However, while we do put on the race for race fans and running enthusiasts, the committee’s goal is to continue to be able to support the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse via the RunAJM Jackson Andrew Jackson Marathon proceeds. Effects from the COVID pandemic are showing an increase in the amount of child abuse cases in rural West Tennessee. Now more than ever, these children need our help and the Center is depending on our fundraising dollars. We hope you understand and hope this decision doesn’t deter you from future participation in our race.
