Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Team

Raise money for Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Team

The Tripleshot youth program, supported by the Tripleshot Cycling Club, continues to develop riders aged 10-19 with an emphasis on a cohesive training group,  team racing tactics and an inclusive fun environment.

Certified coaches offer five to seven sessions per week, year round. We use a multidisciplinary approach, with four seasons, switching from gym and mountain bike, to road, to track to cyclocross, meeting the recommendations of Cycling Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. This seasonal approach keeps cycling fresh, and allows more training without burnout, and helps meet kids' social and athletic needs. It accommodates riders who do other sports. Coached by Tripleshot Head Coach and youth coaches, it offers progression through skill development, entry-level competition, to high performance training plans and preparation for provincial and national selection events.

Youth members contribute to the community by assisting with trail building under the guidance of the South Vancouver Island Nature Trail Society and the South Island Mountain Bike Society and are instrumental in the club’s hosting of the youth team’s annual fundraiser, the Tripleshot CrossFondo. Youth members also contribute to the community by coaching young riders and in September 2019, several of the older riders, under the guidance of Assistant Coach Matt Patriquin, ran the Sir James Douglas Elementary School bike club for 22 young riders.
