Dravet Syndrome National Walk - Goes Virtual September 2020
With physical distancing being the reality for the foreseeable future, we were left with the decision regarding the annual Dravet Syndrome walk and how to proceed this year. We have been organizing the walk for several years, raising over $420K for Dravet Syndrome Research while supporting Liam and his dravet brothers and sisters, so we had to find a way to continue this year!
Being physically apart won't stop us from coming together this year. We are asking all of our Dravet families from coast to coast to please sign up this year for our National Virtual Event, create a team in honour of your dravet child, fundraise and join us on September 12, 2020, where you may have the option to bring together a small group of family and friends to run or walk around your neighbourhood. All proceeds from the walk will support Dravet Canada's mission to raise and distribute funds for research into the care, cure, understanding, and treatment of Dravet Spectrum Disorders.
Please sign up and help make this virtual event a huge success and support a wonderful cause.
The cost to register this year is $20 for each participant and free for anyone with dravet syndrome/epilepsy. You are encouraged to create a team, join a team or register as an individual or a family and start spreading the word and most importantly raising awareness!
As always, thank you for your support!

Change can be a challenge, and we have seen a lot of changes during the COVID-19 outbreak. We are taking every precaution to keep our friends and family safe and healthy. This year our event is virtual and we encourage everyone to register on-line, as there will be no 'physical event' to accept registrations on walk day like we have in the past. In addition, we will not be providing off-line donation forms to collect cash donations.
Thank you for understanding.
Walking/Running Safety Guidelines:
- Become familiar with all recommendations in respect to Covid-19 in your province of residence regarding gatherings.
- Respect physical distancing recommendations from public health agencies to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
- Adhere to all recommendations for physical distancing from public health agencies.
- Do not gather in larger groups to complete your virtual walk, if it exceeds group sizes recommended by your local governments.
- Avoid areas with higher pedestrian traffic, such as city sidewalks or popular trails. Prepare to change your route if your planned route is too congested.
- Wear a mask or face covering when walking/running in higher density areas.
- Avoid crowds and do your best to maintain a distance of two metres (six feet) from those around you.
