Because of friends like you, we are building communities where LGBTQ+ youth thrive

LGBTQ+ young people are at greater risk than their straight peers for lonliness, depression, risk taking, and self-harming. So OUT MetroWest offers activities that are not just fun, they're also educational and supportive. Even in a year like the one we've all just experienced, when isolation wreaked havoc on so many lives, OUT MetroWest seamlessly transitioned to online programs, ensuring that those important, supportive connections with peers and adult role models could still be realized. 

At OUT MetroWest, LGBTQ+ and ally educators and adult role models facilitate more than a dozen, free youth meetings every month--engaging in creative activies from yoga and karoake to health panels and poetry writing. And over the past decade, we've directly served more than 1,000 youth, from pre-school-age through high school. These life-affirming programs make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth from more than 50 cities and towns across Massachusetts. Additionally, the team's training programs in schools, organizations, and businesses further help inform social change and build stronger, more welcoming communities.

OUT MetroWest's flagship programs are:

Nexus -- the state’s first program for LGBTQ+ and allied middle school youth.

Umbrella -- a trans-facilitated program for transgender, non-binary, and gender questioning high school youth. Allies are welcome in this space that explicitly centers the needs of trans and gender expansive youth.

WAGLY -- a youth-led, adult-supported program for all LGBTQ+ and allied high school youth.

And our popular weekly drop-in hours for LGBTQ+ and allied youth ... plus a variety of educational workshops on topics related to LGBTQ+ youth offered to schools, organizations, and businesses.
