Help Nicole raise money

Life seemed to be pretty great. Until it wasn’t.  I had just started a new nursing job in public health, returned from a great vacation with my husband and friends, and was 29 weeks pregnant with our second child. I felt a lump in my breast and on December 6th, 2019 everything changed. At age 36, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer that had spread to 6 of my lymph nodes.  I had surgery 2 weeks later with my son still in my belly.  He would then be induced a month early so I could start an aggressive chemo regime one week after he was born, then 5 weeks of radiation and year-long targeted infusions. Woah. Caring for a newborn and toddler is hard enough...but throw in cancer and chemo...I knew we would need some serious help.

The Ellie Fund stepped in and generously helped offset the high cost of hiring a nighttime nurse, so my husband and I could get the rest we needed to focus on the fight of my life.  I’ve been an athlete my entire life and I channeled some serious determination and  strength. Fast forward, 15 months later and I’m about to complete my LAST infusion! My son is healthy, my family is happy, I have NO evidence of disease, and my energy level (and hair) are coming back :)

I am running with “Team Ellie” to say ‘thank you’ for supporting our family during the scariest, most unpredictable chapter of our lives.
