Help Sara raise money

I have been a runner since 2010, when I experienced my very first 5K race. Since then, I have completed 2 full marathons, 13 half marathons, and countless other races ranging from 5Ks to 10-milers. As someone who never participated in organized sports growing up, it took awhile to embrace the joy of running, but once I did, I was hooked!

I had the wonderful opportunity to run the Falmouth Road Race in 2012, when I was 7 weeks pregnant with my oldest daughter. I joined Team In Training and raised over $1300 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I loved being able to support a charity that I had a personal connection with - only a few years before, I lost one of my mentors to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I ran in her memory that day. Overall,  I had a great experience running Falmouth and was impressed by the crowds that came out to cheer us on!

This year, the race will probably look a little different, depending on Covid restrictions. I might be racing in my own neighborhood, instead of Falmouth. There won't be hundreds of people lining the streets to support me. But I feel blessed that I will be able to run for a great cause, the Foundation to Advance Catholic Education. As a teacher at Bishop Feehan High School (part of the Fall River diocese) I know first-hand how important it is for families to be able to send their children to our school, without having to worry about any financial burdens. FACE works to provide financial assistance and scholarships to families throughout the diocese.
