This year we are running the Falmouth Road Race for New England Donor Services. Organ donation means so much to our family. Both Derek and our mom are organ transplant recipients. Our family has experienced firsthand the hardship of having a loved one wait for a transplant. Unfortunately, there is an abundant need for organ donations daily. Derek and our mom both have overcome great adversities and are beyond grateful to those who helped give them a second chance and a better life. Through our fundraising efforts, we hope to encourage people to join the Donor Registry and to support organ recipient/donor families. Organ donation is such a precious gift and saves so many lives every day.

A message from Derek:

“My name is Derek Brown and I received the gift of life through kidney donation 8 years ago. After receiving the kidney, I was filled with newfound energy and life. It allowed me to do things that I never dreamt of doing before – such as completing Spartan Races and hiking the Half Dome Trail in Yosemite National Park. I cannot wait to add the Falmouth road race to my list of accomplishments post-transplant. I could not be more grateful for organizations that help make organ donations possible. I want to give back to such an important cause by participating as a member of the New England Donor Services with my amazing sister, Micaela. We are running for all of those waiting to receive an organ transplant, and for those heroes who have donated the gift of life. Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated, thank you!”
