My Story…
Hey Everyone!
First of all, thanks for coming by and visiting my fundraising page. I am so excited to be running in the Falmouth RR for the first time this year, and I'm proud to be doing it for such an amazing organization as Doc Wayne.
The tagline for Doc Wayne is "Reimagining Therapy Through Sport", and it is a sentiment that I whole-heartedly agree can make a huge difference within the lives of at-risk children. Reports have shown that 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and approximately 80% of children with mental illness don't receive the support that they need. Doc Wayne is on a mission to flip these scripts, and give the youth of today an opportunity to reap the benefits of adding sports to their life, which has shown to have such a major positive impact.
While I do not yet volunteer for Doc Wayne myself, Haley has been helping Doc Wayne for over 6 months now, and has been amazed by the impact that sports have on these kids. She would love to be running the race as well to support Doc Wayne, but she unfortunately will be out of town for the weekend so I'll be taking on the race without her.
As for my journey, I see the Falmouth RR as a great stepping stone in my training process as I look to take on a half-distance triathlon at the end of October in Waco, TX.
Thanks for coming to my fundraising page, and thanks for reading through this description as well if you made it this far. All donations raised from my page will be passed directly onto Doc Wayne.
