My Story…
On April 15, 2013, my lifelong friend, Gillian Reny was one of the 39 critically injured bystanders at the finish line in the Boston Marathon bombings. She was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where doctors and nurses worked heroically to save her life—and both of her legs. In gratitude to the Brigham, the Reny family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation to help trauma survivors like Gillian regain their strength and step strong once again.
To-date, the Stepping Strong Center has raised more than $19 million to turn tragedy into hope for civilians and military heroes worldwide who suffer from devastating traumatic injuries and events. But much more needs to be done.
The mission of The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation is to catalyze multidisciplinary collaborations that inspire groundbreaking innovation, effective prevention, and compassionate intervention to transform care for civilians and military heroes who endure traumatic injuries and events.
Every three minutes, someone dies from a traumatic injury. When you support a member of the 2021 Stepping Strong Falmouth Road Race Team, you are helping advance Brigham’s commitment to transforming trauma care for countless survivors and their families.
Thank you for supporting this extraordinary group of runners.
