My Story…
I have been asked before to run this race, and I always find an excuse to say no. But not this year. In March, I was knocked off center when my dear friend Anna Maria Tocci lost her life to a very swift and aggressive brain cancer. Anna had been a bright light in my life even before preschool. Energy, love and brilliance radiated from her. And the loss of her kind heart, sparkly eyes and bountiful spirit broke my heart in more ways than just one. So, when my friend Kelsey asked me to run this year, I said yes immediately. I said yes for Anna. I will run for her with deep gratitude for her friendship and with profound awe for the strength and bravery it took for her to fight so hard and make so many impossible decisions in those last few months. Thank you all for any donations you make. And please know that all donations support local programs helping to treat and care for cancer patients and their families.
Description
Donations will support cancer treatment and patient care at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket. Through the efforts of these organizations and the support of SAA - Nantucket, residents and visitors alike can receive outstanding cancer treatment and support on the island. All proceeds stay on Nantucket and together we can Make Waves to Fight Cancer!
