My Story…
Hey y’all! This August I am running The Falmouth Road Race to raise money for the Palliative Oncology Service at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Palliative care is a specialized type of medical treatment that is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a patient’s chronic illness. It is the goal of the palliative care service to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family by focusing on needs of the patient and not on the patient’s prognosis. As a registered nurse at the Brigham I see firsthand how essential palliative care is for our oncology patients.
I am running this race to honor one oncology patient in particular — my beautiful mom, Kimberly Henry. She has been the most badass warrior fighting cancer this past year. But she cannot do it alone. It is so important to me that my mom has the support and interventions in place to help her live her best life. By donating to the Palliative Care Service, you can help me ensure my mom and all other oncology patients get the care and support they deserve. I love you all!
